Now I know that sparkle is feeling better

It’s only the second day of flubenvet but Sparkle is already looking so much better. I just went up to check on them and for the first time in two weeks Sparkle is having a dust bath.

A happy Sparkle

A happy Sparkle

This made my heart soar. Sparkle was twisting and turning, flicking and flapping and having such a lovely time in her dust bath. A happy Sparkle means a happy me. This is such a joy to see and  now I know she really is feeling better.

That is great news although she looks as if she has had a relapse 🙂

    • I know. I tried to use the photos with the most life in them because in some she was in full on “dead chicken mode” and anyone having a quick look would think she had just demised.

Awe, yea Sparkle. A dust bath has to feel so very good. I’m so glad she’s feeling better. She’s such a sweet bird.

    • It absolutely lifted my heart to see her in a dust bath. She did all the usual “dead chicken” poses and was in there for ages. You just know a chicken is happy when enjoying a dust bath.

Does your Sparkle usually love dust baths? (By the way, I LOVE HER NAME!)
Just wondering, because Speckles (sussex) can take them all day long if she had a choice. 😉

I also love the picture of Peaches and Barley with their floppy combs. I have a Princess Peach (cochin) that we say has a tutu or “pantaloons” on her bottom.

    • Sparkle does usually love her dust baths but then so do all the girls. I gave all my girls descriptive names and Sparkle was for her silver laced plumage.

I love that Peaches and Barley’s combs flop in opposite directions so that I can tell them apart at a glance.

I love the vision of your girl with her pantaloons!

Haha, thanks! Our chickens got wet today because they wouldn’t go back inside when it was raining. They looked a bit rough afterward. 😉

        • We have panels which we close when it rains but they drip at the joins. Honey always seems to stand under the drips and then her black collar goes spiky and makes her look funny. She is the only one that does this, I have no idea why.
