Prepare to be revolted

I am only putting this photo out in case it can be of help to someone else.

The day before yesterday while poop picking the chicken shed I found two worms. Time to get the girls on flubenvet.

I am putting flubenvet in a treat each morning, alternating between, fish, egg or mash and will do this for seven days. I last wormed them in February. I do it every six months or sooner if I spot worms. In six years of chicken keeping this is the third time that I have spotted worms.

Emerald is moulting and yet doesn’t look any different but as well feathers all round the run there has been a pile of feathers under her roost spot in the mornings.

Other news is that yesterday I spotted a slow worm in the garden. It was lined up against the edge of the path sunning itself. It is good to know that we still have slow worms in our garden.

Finally I couldn’t resist a photo of these two best friends together as always.

Good to see a Slow worm in the garden. Also very good that you can spot worms so quickley, Lots of people dont spot this untill they have a rearl problemb.I am so proud of how you look after your pets, because that is what your hens are to you.

    • We saw another slow worm yesterday in the front garden.

I think it may have been just one of the girls with worms (have to worm them all though) as after the initial two I found two more in one poop on the third day of worming and nothing since. Three more days to go.

They are very spoilt beloved pets and I always do my best to keep them in the best possible condition.

  2. Flock Mistress made a comment but for strange reason it shows up in my comment folder but not here. Her comment is:

ACK!!! I guess the good news is I hate to worm or treat my hens unless I know they need it. And here, you clearly know they need it. Glad you caught this before they showed symptoms

    • I think I have caught it early because since that first day I have only found a further two worms in one poop on the third day of worming.

The girls showed no symptoms, they are all perky and the three girls still laying are laying most days.
