Little girls

I thought I would get my husband to take a photo of some of the little girls in my hands to show their size.

We went for Apricot first as she is the most friendly even though she is looking like she wants to escape!

Cinnamon in my hands

Cinnamon was quite happy even though my husband says it looks like I am strangling her. It’s just because her ruff has settled over my thumbs.

No animals were hurt during the making of this post, honest! These little girls are a hands length in size. They are dear little girls.

They are so tiny and sweet.

  2. They are. When I see photos of standard chickens now they look like giants. I love their tiny size. They are such a close flock too with the two bigger girls and the five little girls all hanging out together, never far from each other.

Speckles looks so much bigger than Freckles, even though Freckles is in the foreground and Speckles is behind.

    • Speckles is much bigger than any of the little girls even though Freckles is the biggest one of them. So often they are gathered around Speckles in a group and it really does look like she is their mum. She seems to have taken on a mother hen role and they seem to accept it and are often very close around her. A stranger to chickens would assume it was a mother with her babies.

Before Peaches and Barley left, the flock was very much two groups, but now the dynamics have completely changed. If the little girls are busy and scattered then Emerald and Speckles are usually sat together but at other times Speckles will be stood or sat in the middle of the group of little girls with Emerald sitting a little distance away or on her favourite perch above them. I try to get photos but they always disperse when I go in. I will keep trying. It will show the difference in their size.
