The garden is looking lovely

I love the garden at this time of year. There is so much colour and I love the way one thing grows through another which is the result of time and the garden maturing.

On the other hand some things get too big and we have to do some cutting down and cutting back but having no gaps keeps the weeds out and any moisture in.

The chimney pot is giving a splash of colour

A pretty hedge has developed up by the chicken run

I love the way that the planting now hides the fence

The lavender and lilies grow through each other

The flowers on the leeks are now nearly all open

Rambling rose

The standard rose is now huge

Himalayan honeysuckle

I love sitting in the garden in the lovely sunny weather we are now having. I am soaking up the sun and the colour.

Oh, so pretty. I had no idea how similar your growing climate was to mine until I started watching Monty Don Big Spaces Small Dreams. Makes me want to start all over with my garden. You do get more summer rain than we do and I know plants love a good summer soaking. I wish we had a little of that.

How funny, I was just watching Monty Don, last night. The thing about our weather is you never know what to expect from one year to another. It is so variable. Last summer was hot and dry. This year it rained all through June but July has been hot and dry. Our garden has developed to withstand most weather as the plants that do well stay and those that don’t we don’t replace.

The weather has more effect on the veg plot though. Our potatoes and tomatoes got blight this year because of the wet and warm weather. I love the garden though. What I have seen of your garden is lovely too.
