First Broccoli

Yesterday we picked the first broccoli from our garden veg patch. We will be having it with our Sunday roast dinner.

The first broccoli from our garden veg plot

We know that it is caterpillar free due to the net cage we have grown it in and the more we pick the more it will sprout again.

The first of each crop is just that bit special.

It is getting a bit like that at the moment. For dessert a couple of times a week now we have raspberries or strawberries. Our lunch time sandwich today had home grown lettuce, home grown radishes and home grown gherkin/cucumber and tonight the broccoli and a small beetroot which I will roast. There is loads of produce almost ready and the artichokes are ready to pick but we are a bit scared of them! Must look up what to do with them. We also have onion and garlic ready. xx
