Signs of spring in the garden

There are signs of spring in the garden. The pulmonarias have started to flower and so have the primulas. Bulbs are pushing through and new green growth is erupting. The first proper sign of spring though is always the snowdrops and hellebores.

Snowdrops

I love to see the first snowdrops appear every year. Bigger, later, ones will follow but these smaller ones always come up first. It brings the feeling that spring is that little bit closer.

Lovely, Our snowdrops are way behind, but one flower I have never seen at this time of the year is,the large red poppies, we have 4 flowers out.

These particular snowdrops are always early. They were actually in this garden when we moved in thirteen years ago and the patch gets bigger every year. I am amazed that you have the large red poppies out though. I have never seen them flower at this time of year.

Me too. These were also here when we moved in and have self seeded all round the garden. The white ones flower first but the pink ones are in bud at the moment. xx
