Christmas day in the chicken run

It’s become a Christmas tradition for the girls to have a fish treat on Christmas morning. We had smoked salmon omelette for breakfast and they had sardines in olive oil.

They love fish

They look very happy enjoying their fish. They also have their daily spinach. Autumn is now fully feathered. Red is still laying on average every five days and has laid a Christmas day egg today! Autumn laid on Christmas day last year and Red this year so that is quite special.

Happy Christmas everyone, we hope you are all enjoying your day.

Thank you, Carol – hope you hAD A NICE day. Busy here, but very enjoyable. When I opened up this morning, I had the loveliest gift of 3 bantam marans eggs. Long may it last!
Nice to get a photo of the whole flock together, busily enjoying their treat. Red has timed her egg’s arrival! Why can’t they all be more like Sparkle?

We had a lovely day, thank you. It funny how both wyandottes have not proved to be good layers so far and previously one good layer and one hopeless layer. It will be interesting to see how they lay next year. Lovely to have 3 bantam maran eggs at once.
