Peaches is looking really tatty

Peaches moult seems to have speeded up whereas Barley is just losing the odd feather. I took this photo of them together for comparison.

Poor Peaches

Poor Peaches

Barley actually looks quite pristine in comparison. This is their first moult so I didn’t know how quickly they would moult. Peaches wouldn’t win any beauty competitions at the moment. I am sure she will soon be back to her beautiful self.

Oh poor peaches , but like the ugly duckling will turn out to be a beautiful swan .

    Peaches, you poor thing!
She needs to steal Barleys comb to distract from the feathers! ?

  3. I know! It’s funny how they all moult differently. Emerald, Toffee and Speckles don’t really look any different apart from Speckles having no tail but Peaches looks so tatty. Hopefully this probably means her feathers will come back in quickly.

I like the “spot the difference” photo!

    • I know, they are always so in sync and then suddenly …. I am surprised when they are no longer identical. I guess they will soon catch up. It is quite funny to see them like this. Richard, for the moment, can tell them apart!

I feel for you. I have two molting out of four. One is taking it really hard. She looks and clearly feels awful. I think she’s starting to turn a corner. And at least she’s still covered. My Coco tends to just drop every feather and stand there and shiver for weeks while the new ones come in.

I swear, molting is harder on me than the hen.

    • I remember Coco from last year, that year has flown by! At least I don’t have to worry that mine are cold, it’s pleasantly warm at the moment. I hope it will all be over before it gets cold.
