Spot is growing in confidence. She has been getting closer to the other girls and closer to me too.
Today Spot was enjoying a communal dust bathing session with the rest of the flock. This is so good to see and I am really pleased with how well and how quickly she is settling in.
Happy flock, happy me. I am so pleased with how it’s going.
Update
I have just been up to check at bedtime and on only our fourth night Spot has got herself into the chicken shed. Not only that but instead of being on the side perch she is on the back perch in the middle of the little girls.
I am so proud of her!

She is doing really well and I was so proud of her putting herself to bed last night. Richard checked in on Ebony yesterday and she looked really settled too. It has all worked out really well.
To look at her dust bathing, you’d think she’d been there for eons, so much is she at home. Can’t think of a better integration. 🙂
I think this may be our best integration yet. I will do a one week post tomorrow which I have taken a few photos for. From the fourth night she has gone in every night and perches in the middle of the little girls. She has now got the hang of treats on the patio and has been pecking at melon and mash. She hangs out where ever the the rest of the girls are. She seems completely at home and the flock have completely accepted her. I am so happy at how well this has worked out.

Sorry to see Ebony has moved in but Spot is lovely and you’re so lucky with how well she’s settling in! Lovely to see. Just goes to show that the commonly given advice that it’s impossible to introduce a lone hen isn’t always true!
I’ve just moved my July hatched pullets (one stunning gold laced Barnevelder bantam and one rather large maran bantam) in with my flock (the two boys are now in their run on their own pending a move to my mums house) and they’ve gone straight into sleeping in the house with the others but it’s not particularly harmonious just yet!
Looking forward to seeing further updates on Spot.
Advice always says to introduce more than one which I have often found difficult. Then I discovered that when introducing one there is no problem. I wouldn’t advise with chicks of course but one older girl seems to be so much easier. I am posting tomorrow with my sum up of this first week and it has gone better than I could have imagined.
