When the laying girls have laid I have been closing the nest boxes but Cloud is quite determined at the moment. I knew Red needed to lay so had to leave the nest boxes open.
I took one photo from the open lid and another from the ramp. The nest box next to this one is empty.
This is obviously the current favourite nest box. Some girls (Ginger) don’t like to share and others are happy to share. Red is so easy going she doesn’t mind who wants to share with her.

i AM FINDING THAT THE PREFERRED NEST BOX IS NOT ALWAYS THE SAME ONE, BUT THEY DO DOUBLE UP AND EVEN FORM A QUEUE SOMETIMES, TO GET TO WHERE IT IS OBVUIOUSLY BEST!
When I went back after putting out this post Mango was squeezing in as well. As you say it’s not always the same box. I think which ever box is chosen by the first girl is then deemed the best one and they all want it.
