Cloud has now gone broody. She has only laid seven eggs in eleven days.
I lifted Cloud out of the nest box and she didn’t move. Her feathers are raised and her eyes look manic.

I am surprised she has gone broody so quickly and after so few eggs. She has laid them in quick succession though. She has laid missed a day then laid two days running then missed a day and repeat.
We are beset with broody girls at the moment. At least we still have plenty of eggs.

Sometimes, it seems infectious! I am only on my second of the season, but know there’ll be a flurry before long. Still no sign of Butterscotch laying.
Red and Gold have now been broody twice and Snow and Cloud once. We had just one day when all eight girls were back in lay before Snow went broody. I expect Mango will be next.
This seems quite normal at this time of the year, good you are still getting plenty of eggs
It is definitely that time of year. That’s why it’s good to have a good number of girls so that it keeps the eggs going.
