I have become very lax about blogging lately. There just hasn’t really been anything much to say. There have been no eggs since I last posted. It’s a bit disappointing that Popcorn and Maple, as first year girls, haven’t returned to laying. They seem to have had almost as complete a moult as the rest of the flock and are both still dropping an occasional feather as is Snow. All the girls have grown their feathers back in now.
Today I gave the girls a fish treat and thought it would be a chance to get some group photos. It’s not quite so easy these days though as Cloud and Popcorn are firmly bottom girls. Popcorn will come up and take either spinach, apple or today’s fish and run off with it. Her tactic for some time has been to grab something and eat it out in the run and then keep repeating this.
Cloud isn’t even that brave. She will hang back until the rest of the girls move away and then go and have her share on her own. When we first got Popcorn and Maple, Cloud tried to move up the pecking order but as these two girls grew in confidence Cloud slipped back down to bottom girl.
They will all get a share in the end though and I think it’s safe to say they all enjoyed their fish treat.
