Day three of the works

The guys arrived even earlier again today, determined to get the project as near finished as possible.

As the neighbours have a deck up against the fence it keeps rotting and we have had to reinforce it so it is now being clad with marine ply

The marine ply is concreted in so we should be able to keep rats out

Their perch had been lost during the works so we have used a bit of trellis that we longer need. We will see what they make of their new bedtime perch later but they seem to quickly adapt to the changes.

Rob will be back on Friday to do some fine tuning. Rob has worked with us since our chicken journey began three years ago. He built our original run, returned to extend the roof, returned to do some rat proofing (in the snow),  returned to extend our run last year and now returned once more for these works. He has been brilliant and we would recommend his services to anyone. If you need works done you can find Rob here:

This has been a never ending project and I am sure it won’t be over yet for a little while longer. I will walk the public footpath behind our property in the next few days and take some photos from the other side.

I will continue to chart the progress of this project but would just like to say a huge thank you to Rob and his team.

The combination of concrete and wood fence panels seems like a good idea.

It’s starting to take shape now, hopefully we’ll start seeing the sheds materialise soon. Progress seems to be a lot quicker than our two-week long job that is still only half finished four weeks later!

    • Outside works are probably faster than inside works. The guys were booked for us for three days and need to move on to the next job so they work fast, start early and take few, short breaks. There was tension today at times. It will be good to see the next stage.

Wow! There has been so much progress. I have had no work done with them yet but I can vouch that they are lovely blokes and totally trustworthy.
Can’t wait to see it .
