I will end the year as usual with my egg count for the year. I will list the number of months the girls were laying as some girls have a shorter season than others.
I will start with Sugar and Autumn who laid no eggs and we sadly lost both girls in May.
Gold – 5 months – 54 eggs.
Storm – 4 months – 34 eggs.
Cloud – 4 months – 40 eggs.
Mango – 3 months – 25 eggs.
Snow – 8 months – 85 eggs.
Red – 9 months – 98 eggs.
Red had laid for 11 months altogether counting the end of last year when she laid a further 19 in 2 months.
Ginger – 2 weeks – 9 eggs.
Ginger laid 9 eggs in 2 weeks then moulted which is unusual for a first year girl.
Silver – 3 weeks – 6 eggs.
Silver laid 2 eggs in 3 days then had an 8 day break. She then laid 3 eggs in 5 days and then another break of 5 days and then laid today on New Year’s Eve.
The total eggs this year is 351.
I decided to give the girls a New Year’s Eve treat of yogurt topped with chopped grapes.

I would like to wish all my readers a Happy New Year.

Red reminds me of Sparkle or Spangle? (Topaz’s more productive sister) when I look at that egg count. She is way out in front.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Sparkle, yes. I think if you get a good laying wynadotte they are exceptional. Odd that I have had two non layers, Topaz and Autumn and two good layers Sparkle and Red. As you say Red is way out in front.
Thank you and a Happy New Year to you and yours too xx
Very good, lovely fresh eggs.
A bit thin on the ground at the moment but it won’t be long until we have loads of eggs again. The year’s total was pretty good considering we started the year with two non layers and then two new girls. It should be even better next year with all the girls laying.
