Perching together

On frosty mornings the girls are quick to find a shaft of sunlight to perch in, preferably on the high perches away from the frosty ground.

I love seeing the whole flock perching together like this.

Your girls are so lucky t You have lots of perches for them, we see so many people
who keeps hens with no perches for them. You can see how much they enjoy being
    up there. lovely pictures.

    • I couldn’t bare to have no perches on frosty days in particular. They don’t like their feet on frosty ground (who would!) and they always choose to perch up, especially if there is a shaft of sun. Chickens love to perch and I don’t understand why people would have no perches. On frosty days like we have been having, all the poop is under each of the high perches.

The two little girls are hugely inquisitive – while the other four look elsewhere, their attention has been captured by something in the opposite direction. Nice pictures,as always.

    • I tried talking to them to get them all looking towards me but as you say in the second photo I lost the little girls attention to whatever they were looking at. They are indeed, very inquisitive.
