Speckles in the shelter

Yesterday morning we had some snow. Peaches, Barley and Speckles were once more in the shelter. They have definitely made it their own at the moment. I don’t know why but Emerald shows no interest in the shelter and the little girls tend to stick to the dry dust bathing area.

Once again as soon as I went in with my camera Peaches and Barley ran to me but I was just in time to catch Speckles in the shelter.

Speckles seems to have more sense than the other two and was perched on the branch inside the shelter where it’s dry. Peaches and Barley tend to perch on the outside which means their head or tail is still exposed to the drips.

The girls are amusing with their ever changing little habits.

She looks good. is she laying yet?

    • Not yet. They don’t usually start laying until February and March, so we have a while to wait yet. The little girls should be laying soon though as they are now seven months old and they usually start around six months. I know that the later in the year they are hatched the older they are before laying though and Dotty was eight months before she started so I am not worried. It would be so nice to have some eggs though. I have seen Rusty go to the grit a couple of times recently so I keep thinking it could be soon. There will definitely be a post when we get some eggs.
